Tottenham delay scans for Harry Kane’s ankle injury

Tottenham striker Harry Kane still hasn't been for scans on his ankle injury and looks set to miss a sizeable chunk of the remainder of the season, reports The Guardian.

The 24-year-old was forced off midway through the first half of Tottenham’s 4-1 win away to Bournemouth on Sunday after rolling his ankle in a collision with Cherries’ goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

Kane left the stadium on crutches and wearing a protective boot and Mauricio Pochettino later conceded he fears the England international has suffered ankle ligament damage.

Tottenham hoped to send Kane for scans on Monday to discover the extent of the injury but have been forced to delay those plans, as the swelling around his ankle is yet to subside.

There are now serious concerns that Kane may not return to full fitness until May, which would rule him out for most of the season.

England manager Gareth Southgate names his squad on Thursday for upcoming friendlies against Holland and Italy and Kane will not be part of his plans.

Southgate will be sweating on the extent of Kane’s injury as England’s hopes of being successful at the 2018 World Cup almost entirely rest on his shoulders.

No player in Europe’s top five leagues has scored more Premier League goals than Kane this season (24).
