Spaniard in a league of his own for passing in the Premier League

Santi Cazorla had a weekend to forget when he ballooned his penalty over the bar with Arsenal trailing West Brom 2-1 with seven minutes to go, but his total of 113 passes saw him become the first player to surpass 1000 passes for the season in the Premier League.

The Arsenal midfielder has become the heartbeat of Arsene Wenger’s side in recent seasons and he has now completed at least 144 more passes than anyone else in England’s top-tier so far this season, and at least 218 when you factor out his international compatriot Cesc Fabregas.

However, even his almost flawless passing display wasn’t enough for him to garner a decent rating this weekend (6.34), as he dropped three places in the top-10 rated players in the Premier League.
