Manchester United desperate to keep Chelsea target

Manchester United have offered Angel Gomes a new £30,000-a-week deal in a last ditch attempt to secure his long-term future, claims The Sun.

Gomes' exisiting deal is due to expire at the end of the current campaign and he will then be free to leave his boyhood club.

The 19-year-old has regularly been described as one of United's best prospects in recent years and was previously linked with a move to Barcelona.

Gomes made his first-team debut for United in January 2018 but has only made a further nine appearances for the club since then.

The teenager has regularly traveled with the United first-team over the last two years but has lacked game time in that period.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer still has high hopes for the pint-sized midfielder and United have launched their final bid to try and tie Gomes down to a new contract.

Chelsea are understood to be monitoring Gomes' future and will make a move for the England Under-20 international if he is available this summer.

Gomes has started three Europa League matches this season but has been limited to just two appearances from the bench in the Premier League in 19/20.
