Borussia Dortmund want £27m for former Manchester United target

Borussia Dortmund have slapped a £27m asking price on Julian Weigl’s head this summer, claims German outlet BILD.

Weigl was once heralded as the next best midfielder in Germany but his career has stagnated over the last two years.

The Germany international has previously been heavily linked with a move to Manchester City and Manchester United and is reportedly now on Arsenal’s radar.

Dortmund are willing to sanction Weigl’s departure this summer after the 23-year-old dropped completely out of favour last season.

Weigl was considered by Paris Saint-Germain in January but now the French side have wrapped up deals for midfield duo Ander Herrera and Pablo Sarabia.

Weigl has two years left to run on his current Dortmund deal and the Bundesliga outfit are hoping to fetch £25m for his signature this summer.

The German midfielder only made 18 appearances in the Bundesliga last season after dropping below Thomas Delaney and Axel Witsel in the pecking order for places.

Despite lacking regular playing time, Weigl was typically economical when on the pitch, boasting the best pass success rate in the Bundesliga last season (93.2%).
