Chelsea given boost in pursuit of Juventus defender

Alex Sandro has given Chelsea a huge boost less than a month before the January transfer window after informing Juventus he is unhappy at the club, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Chelsea failed in their attempts to prise Sandro away from the Serie A giants in the summer and were even willing to offer £60m for the Brazil international.

Juventus have previously intimated they would not stand in the way of Sandro if he wants to leave, which they had no reason to believe before the start of the season.

However, the 26-year-old has endured a troubled start to the campaign and has now told Juventus he is unhappy, which could convince Chelsea to chance their arm for his signature in January.

It remains to be seen whether Juventus would be willing to sell such an important player midway through the season, particularly as they are already short in his position as it stands.

Massimiliano Allegri has rotated between Sandro and Kwadwo Asamoah, who is a midfielder by trade, at left-back this season.

Only three Juventus players have garnered a higher WhoScored rating than Sandro (7.37) for Juventus in Serie A thus far, but Allegri is still waiting for the Brazilian to reproduce the performances of last season.
