AC Milan plot summer move for out of favour Chelsea star

AC Milan are considering a summer move for out of favour Chelsea striker Diego Costa, according to Sky Sports.

Costa revealed on Wednesday that Blues boss Antonio Conte has told him that he has no future at Stamford Bridge and has said the he is free to leave.

With speculation mounting that Romelu Lukaku will return to Chelsea in the coming weeks, the Blues need to free up a spot in attack.

Costa was linked with a move away from the west London side in January amidst rumours of interest from China, but stayed in England to fire Chelsea to the Premier League title.

However, his time in London looks to be drawing to a close and there is no shortage of potential suitors to sign the Spain international.

AC Milan, though, are thought to now be leading the race, particularly with Atletico Madrid unable to register new players until January in light of their transfer ban.

The player’s agent - Jorge Mendes - met with Milan representatives ahead of last weekend’s Champions League final and further talks are in the pipeline this.

AC Milan’s top striking target remains Andrea Belotti, but Torino would favour he leave to a team outside of Italy, as the Italy international’s release clause stands at £87m for foreign clubs.

Nevertheless, the Italian giants remain interested in Costa, Porto’s Andre Silva and Real Madrid outcast James Rodriguez, all of whom are represented by Mendes.
