Las Palmas release Boateng

Las Palmas have announced they have released Kevin-Prince Boateng on the eve of the new Spanish season due to personal reasons.

Boateng only joined Las Palmas 12 months ago and appeared to have kickstarted his career after impressing for the Spanish side.

However, Manolo Marquez’s side have now announced they have terminated his contract, which still had three years left to run, after unexplained personal reasons led to his unexpected departure.

Las Palmas start the new season away to Valencia on Friday and Boateng’s departure only adds to their problems this summer, having already lost midfield general Roque Mesa.

No player was sent off more times in La Liga last season than Boateng (2), but the 30-year-old did score 10 goals over the course of the campaign. In fact, he had only managed nine goals in his previous four league campaigns combined prior to that.
