Real Madrid are set to launch a summer bid for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek, but face competition from Manchester United, reports Le10 Sport.
The Dutch midfielder shot to prominence in the second half of 2018/19 as he played a key role in Ajax's progression to the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Van de Beek was heavily linked with a move away from the Eredivisie giants the following summer, with Real Madrid and United supposedly leading the way to secure his services.
However, Ajax rebuffed any efforts to land Van de Beek and the 23-year-old excelled before the 2019/20 Eredivisie campaign ground to a halt due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Real Madrid are the favourites to land the youngster, but United remain in the running to sign Van de Beek as head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to strengthen his midfield this summer.
Van de Beek has eight goals and five assists to his name in the Eredivisie this season to help return a WhoScored rating of 7.41.
