Youngster to stay at United until Christmas

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has revealed 19-year-old striker James Wilson will remain at the club until at least December to provide cover for Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial.

Wilson was left out of the squad that beat Ipswich Town 3-0 in the Capital One Cup midweek and has been strongly linked with a number of clubs in the Premier League and the Championship.

However, Van Gaal has revealed his doubts over whether a spell in the Championship would be beneficial to Wilson’s developments. The Dutchman is reluctant to allow the academy graduate to go to another league rival, as it would rule out the chance of being able to recall the striker back.

“I have talked with him and I think we wait until December,” the United boss is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

Wilson hasn’t featured for the United first-team since February and has significantly fallen down the pecking order since Van Gaal’s arrival last summer.
