Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Milan Skriniar with Inter ready to cash in on the defender this summer, claims The Daily Mirror.
Skriniar has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent years after emerging as one of Serie A's best defenders.
The 25-year-old only signed a new long-term deal with Inter 12 months ago but it has now emerged Antonio Conte's side will entertain offers for the centre-back.
Barcelona and Real Madrid have previously been linked with a move for the Slovakia international but United are determined to land the ball-playing defender.
With Phil Jones and Chris Smalling set to leave United on permanent deals this summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have room to accomodate a new centre-back for next season.
United made Harry Maguire the most expensive defender of all time last summer in an £80m deal but hope to pay half that price for Skriniar, though Inter are holding out for £52.25m.
With transfer valuations set to tumble this summer as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, United hope to take advantage of lower fees.
Victor Lindelof has been a mainstay alongside Maguire this season but Skriniar would represent an obvious upgrade on the Sweden international.
United have offloaded Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young to Inter in the last 12 months and hope to use their good relationship with the Serie A outfit to land Skriniar.
The Slovakian defender has only missed one league game for Inter this season but has a less-than-impressive WhoScored rating of 6.66.
However, of players to have made at least 15 appearances in Serie A this season, only two have a better pass success rate than the Inter defender (92.3%).
