Antonio Conte has rejected suggestions this will be his last season at Chelsea and insists he will never walk away from the club.
The Italian has endured a whirlwind spell during his 18 months at Stamford Bridge and there is a growing belief that he will step down as Chelsea manager at the end of the season.
Conte led Chelsea to the Premier League title in his first season in charge but things haven’t been plain sailing in that time and he has not been shy to criticise the club’s recruitment strategy.
Reports emerged earlier this week suggesting Chelsea were already in the process of drafting potential replacements for his expected departure in the summer, but Conte has rubbished those claims.
“No. Now I am fully committed for Chelsea, in this job to work with my players to try also to improve the club in the football aspect,” the London Evening Standard quote Conte as saying in his pre-match news conference on Friday.
“I am fully committed in this and I am happy in what I am doing now and what I did in the past. But I am more happy in what I am doing now.”
Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly looking to appoint Conte as their new manager for next season but the Ligue 1 giants may have to look elsewhere as the 48-year-old insisted he would never quit as Chelsea boss.
Chelsea have already lost as many home league matches during the defence of their Premier League title as they did when they won it last season (2).
