Manchester City outcast on verge of Sevilla switch

Manchester City outcast Nolito is on the brink of securing a return to Spain as Sevilla close in on a season-long loan deal, reports MARCA.

Nolito only joined City last season after Pep Guardiola’s side triggered the £12m release clause in his Celta Vigo contract but the Spain international endured a miserable debut campaign in England.

The 30-year-old has expressed on more than one occasion that he will do whatever it takes to leave City this summer after dropping completely out of favour under Guardiola in the second half of the season.

Sevilla are the frontrunners to secure Nolito’s services and will have an option to make the switch permanent for a fee between £5-7m, although Eduardo Berizzo’s side are trying to make that clause optional.

Nolito only made nine appearances in 2017 and only hit double figures for playing time in four of those matches. However, City won all nine of the Premier League games Nolito started compared to a win rate of 48.3% in the 29 matches he did not start.
