Colorado Rapids are in talks to sign former Arsenal striker Carlos Vela, according to the MLS side’s Director of Soccer.
Vela, 26, spent seven years at Arsenal but failed to establish himself as a first-team player before making the permanent switch to Real Sociedad in 2012.
The Mexico international has started the current season poorly and has been linked with a move away from the Basque region ever since, with Colorado Rapids emerging as the frontrunners to secure his signature.
“We are negotiating with Real Sociedad and with the player,” Claudio Lopez told BolaVIP.
The Sociedad No.11 has only managed two goals in 11 league appearances this season and is drawing more fouls per game than any other teammate (2.3).
