City have £38m bid for Italy international rejected

Manchester City have had a £38m bid for Leonardo Bonucci rejected by Juventus, according to Sky Sports.

Bonucci, 29, was one of the best players at Euro 2016 prior to Italy’s elimination against Germany in the quarter-finals at the weekend.

The Juventus central defender has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea but Pep Guardiola is also a huge admirer and is seemingly also hopeful of bringing him to the Premier League this summer.

However, Max Allegri’s side are desperate to keep hold of Bonucci this summer and any admirers would appear to need to make a mammoth offer to prize him away from the Old Lady.

In the last two Serie A campaigns only two outfielders have completed more accurate long balls than Bonucci (389).
