Arsenal are preparing a new contract worth £70,000-a-week for rising midfielder Matteo Guendouzi, claims The Daily Mail.
Guendouzi has emerged as a key player for Arsenal since joining the Gunners from French side Lorient in the summer of 2018.
The 20-year-old still has three years to go on his current £40,000-a-week Arsenal deal but Unai Emery’s side want to reward the youngster with improved terms.
Guendouzi was one of the first signings made by Emery as Arsenal manager and the midfielder is already above big-money signing Lucas Torreira in the pecking order for places.
The France Under-21 international made 33 league appearances for Arsenal in his maiden campaign for the club and has started their opening two league games this season.
Guendouzi has made an impressive start to the season with only Ainsley Maitland-Niles (7.74) earning a higher WhoScored rating than the Frenchman (7.46) of all Arsenal players in the Premier League.
