Ibe considers international football with Nigeria

Bournemouth winger Jordon Ibe is on the verge of giving up an international career with England in order to represent Nigeria.

Ibe, 20, joined Bournemouth from Liverpool in a deal worth £15m over the summer but has struggled for consistency and isn’t anywhere close to receiving a first senior England call up.

The Bournemouth winger hasn’t even featured for the England Under-21s since March and is now considering switching allegiances to Nigeria, with whom he has previously turned down their advances.

“Jordon is willing to listen to what we have to offer,” a source close to the Nigerian Football Federation told The Daily Mirror. “We are hoping he finds the project enticing enough to dump England where he is a youth international and play for Nigeria at senior level.”

Ibe has started in 11 of Bournemouth’s 12 Premier League matches this season and been subbed off in all of them, more than any player in the league this season.
