City target wants Barcelona stay

Manchester City target Marc-Andre ter Stegen insists he is happy at Barcelona and has no intention of leaving the club this summer.

Ter Stegen, 24, has been restricted to mainly cup and European action since joining in May 2014 and there had been suggestions he would try to force a move away if he was not given assurances about usurping Claudio Bravo as their No.1 goalkeeper in all competitions for next season.

The Germany international has been linked with a move to Manchester City as a result with Pep Guardiola keen to recruit a ball-playing goalkeeper, but Ter Stegen insists he isn’t looking to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the season.

“I am very happy and want to stay here, with the life I have,” he told Barca TV, via Marca.

“You can never relax and always have to give everything. Both I, Claudio [Bravo] and Jordi [Masip] want to play and we work every week to do so.”

“I think that this idea is also good for the team because we are always ready.”

Ter Stegen was made to wait until this season before making his debut in the league, although that came about following injury to Bravo. He has only kept six clean sheets in 22 appearances in all competitions this season.
