Norwich City manager Alex Neil has urged midfielder Nathan Redmond to stay at Carrow Road this season, insisting he is at the right place to continue his development.
Redmond, 21, has courted interest from a host of Premier League clubs following a bright start to the season that has seen the England U21 international score in each of Norwich’s two league matches.
Liverpool, Southampton and Newcastle are reportedly all interested in snapping the youngster up this summer, but Neil says he should stay.
“Nathan is young and I just think ‘why would he want to go anywhere else when he is playing games here?” Neil is quoted as saying in the Eastern Daily Press.
“If he gets to the stage where he needs to move on to further himself, then I am sure that will come, but at the present moment this is the best place for him.
“There is no reason for him to go anywhere else.”
The former Birmingham midfielder’s start to the season has been impressive. In fact, only four English players have gained a higher WhoScored rating than Redmond (7.76) in the Premier League so far and no one has played a more direct hand in their team's goals than the midfielder (50%).
