New Dalian Yifang head coach Rafa Benitez wants to reunite with Salmon Rondon in China, claims The Daily Mail.
Benitez left Newcastle to sign a lucrative contract with Chinese Super League outfit Dalian Yifang earlier this month.
Newcastle owner Mike Ashley failed to give Benitez the assurances he wanted to renew with the club leaving the Spaniard with no choice but to leave.
One of the issues Benitez could not overlook was Newcastle’s decision not to prolong Salomon Rondon’s stay at the club.
Newcastle signed Rondon on a season-long loan deal from Championship club West Brom last summer and the Venezuela international helped steer the club clear of the drop.
Benitez is still keen on the idea of linking up with Rondon and wants to bring the 29-year-old to his new club in China.
Dalian Yifang current marquee names are former Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, who has been linked to Arsenal this summer, and former Napoli captain Marek Hamsik, who Benitez has previously worked with.
Rondon played a direct hand in 18 Premier League goals for the Magpies last season (11 goals, seven assists), but only one player lost more aerial duels than the Venezuelan striker in the division (234).
