Premier League manager fighting for job and it’s NOT Jose Mourinho

Claude Puel’s Leicester future has plunged into doubt, claims The Sun.

The Frenchman's relationship with the Leicester players soured towards the end of last season and there were suggestions he would be sacked over the summer.

Puel managed to hold onto his job and was backed by the Leicester board, spending in excess of £20m to sign James Maddison from Norwich and blocking Harry Maguire's move to Manchester United.

Leicester are currently 10th in the Premier League with 12 points from their opening eight matches but the board are still concerned about Puel’s suitability.

Puel is under huge pressure to continue winning matches despite the fact the club are nine points above the bottom three.

Jose Mourinho was tipped to be the first Premier League manager sacked this season but the Portuguese lives to fight another day after Manchester United’s thrilling 3-2 win over Newcastle last weekend.

Since replacing Craig Shakespeare as Leicester manager nearly 12 months ago, Puel has won 42.2% of his matches in charge and steered the club clear of relegation last season.
