Vardy to snub Arsenal

Jamie Vardy has told his England teammates he is leaning towards rejecting a move to Arsenal and is ’80 per cent sure’ he will remain at Leicester, reports The London Evening Standard.

Arsenal activated Vardy’s £20m release clause last weekend and Vardy has already agreed terms and completed his medical with the Gunners but requested time to mull his decision over.

The 29-year-old isn’t due to announce his decision until after Euro 2016 but, as it stands, he is set to turn down Arsenal’s £120,000-a-week offer to remain with the Premier League champions.

Leicester have also tabled Vardy with a counter offer, which would see the England international earn an extra £20,000-a-week on the contract he signed in February – currently £80,000-per-week.

No player scored more clear-cut chances in the Premier League last season than Vardy (16), who blasted Leicester to the Premier League title. He also won the most penalties (7).
