Doubt cast over Fekir’s move to Liverpool

Liverpool’s £53m move for Lyon star Nabil Fekir has been cast into doubt after the club hesitated on sanctioning the transfer following his medical, reports the Daily Telegraph.

The Reds have been linked with a move for the France international for some time now and had been hoping to conclude the transfer before the World Cup kicked off.

However, Fekir, who has sustained a series of knee injuries in the past, could be made to wait a little longer before his switch to Anfield is sealed.

Liverpool had looked to announce the signing on Friday with a deal agreed between both teams and personal terms already decided.

The Premier League side are still confident that the move can progress over the finish line, but the latest hiccup leaves the move in limbo.

If the deal for 24-year-old is announced, then Fekir would be Liverpool’s third summer arrival following the captures of Naby Keita and Fabinho from RB Leipzig and Monaco, respectively.

Fekir scored 18 goals and registered eight assists for Lyon last season to secure a spot in the WhoScored.com European team of the season with a rating of 7.86.
