Inter midfielder ruled out until 2017

Inter will be without tenacious midfielder Gary Medel until after the winter break, according to FCInterNews, via Football Italia.

Medel, 29, lasted just 37 minutes of Inter’s 2-2 draw with city rivals AC Milan last weekend after suffering a knee injury towards the end of the first half.

The Chile international will reportedly undergo knee surgery in Barcelona on Thursday after it was decided the risk of Medel suffering an occurrence of the same injury was too high if it was not dealt with this time around.

However, it means Stefano Pioli will be without Medel for the remainder of 2016 with a return set for the beginning of next year once he has recovered.

Inter midfielder ruled out until 2017

The former Cardiff City midfielder has been a regular starter for Inter since making the switch from the Welsh outfit in 2014, although he is best known for his lack of discipline on the pitch.

In fact, Medel has been booked at least six more times than any other Inter player in the league since joining the club (23).
