Arsenal and Liverpool join Manchester United in race for Seri
Manchester United face competition from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Liverpool for Nice midfield star Jean Seri, claims The Sun.
Jose Mourinho’s side have made fresh contact for Seri in the wake of fresh doubts surrounding Paul Pogba’s future at Old Trafford.
United plan to sign at least two midfielders to replenish their options, with Michael Carrick and Maroaune Fellaini due to leave at the end of the season.
The Red Devils have been linked with moves for Serie A duo Jorginho and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, but Seri would certainly represent the most cost-effective option due to his £35m release clause.
Barcelona were widely expected to sign Seri in the summer before pulling the plug right at the end of transfer talks with Nice.
The 26-year-old has struggled to rediscover last season’s immense performances for Nice, only managing one goal and three assists in 20 league appearances thus far.
However, only Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti (92.4) averages more passes per Ligue 1 game than Seri this season (84.5).
