Manchester City might be priced out of a move for Kyle Walker after Tottenham added an extra £20m to his original £40m valuation, reports The Daily Mirror.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been heavily linked with a move for Walker in the last few months and the transfer seemed a foregone conclusion after the England international dropped down the pecking order at Tottenham towards the end of last season.
City are expected to sign at least three new full-backs this summer and Walker was at the very top of their list of priorities this summer but Guardiola may have to look at alternative options.
Tottenham have reacted to news that Southampton were demanding in excess of £60m for Virgil Van Dijk and Mauricio Pochettino’s side are ready to dig their heels in for Walker, who only signed a new five-year deal in September.
Walker has established himself as one of the best right backs in the Premier League under Pochettino and they are understandably keen to keep hold of one of their best players as they continue to build a side capable of winning the league.
In the last two Premier League seasons, Walker has completed more interceptions than any other Tottenham player (130), while also providing eight assists in that time.
