Premier League trio chasing Manchester United goalkeeper
Aston Villa risk missing out on Sam Johnstone’s permanent signature as Premier League trio West Brom, West Ham and Crystal Palace are all interested in signing the Manchester United goalkeeper, claims The Daily Mirror.
The 24-year-old has spent the last year on loan with Villa and has established himself as an important player for Steve Bruce’s side after overcoming a shaky start to life in the Championship.
Villa fended off interest from other clubs for Johnstone’s services in the summer but now Premier League clubs are circling they may not be so fortunate this time around.
There is a clause in Johnstone’s loan agreement that would allow the shot-stopper to cut short his stay at Villa Park and secure a permanent move in January with West Brom, West Ham and Palace interested.
West Brom want more competition for former United goalkeeper Ben Foster, while the occupant of West Ham and Palace’s No.1 jersey is still unclear midway through the season.
No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in the Championship in 2017 than Johnstone (17).
