Liverpool are prepared to step up their interest in Borussia Dortmund teenager Christian Pulisic with a January move following Philippe Coutinho’s long-term injury, reports The Daily Mail.
Jurgen Klopp has been interested in signing Pulisic from his former club since the start of the season but accepted a January move was unlikely given a willingness to do business by most clubs midway through the seasons.
However, with Coutinho not expected back until 2017 after being ruled out for six weeks with an ankle injury, Liverpool could be forced to step up their interest in the Dortmund starlet as Klopp looks to maintain their title challenge.
The 18-year-old’s versatility to play right the way across the line behind the main striker is an attractive asset to Klopp, who likes fluid movement and interchanging positions in the offensive third, though a bid in the region of £25m may be needed to prize the US international away from the Bundesliga giants in January.
Of the 126 teenagers to have featured in Europe’s top five leagues this season, only Ousmane Dembele (7) has played a direct hand in more goals than Pulisic (6).
