Fellaini will leave Manchester United, claims AC Milan director

AC Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli claims Marouane Fellaini will leave Manchester United this summer but has denied striking a deal for the midfielder.

Fellaini’s existing United deal is due to expire this summer and the Belgium international has already rejected an offer from the Red Devils.

Jose Mourinho was optimistic Fellaini would sign a new contract after he came off the bench to score the winner in a 2-1 victory over Arsenal at the end of April.

Fellaini reportedly wants a two-year deal worth £100,000-a-week to renew with United but now Milan have entered the race for the 30-year-old and are willing to table a three-year contract.

It looks increasingly likely that Fellaini has played his final game for the club and Mirabelli believes the towering midfielder will move on this summer.

“Fellaini could be an important player, he is,” Sky Sports quote Mirabelli as saying.

“We know he is not going to renew with Untied, but it’s difficult to say that we have closed the deal. He has important attributes. We will do something in that role but we are keeping everything in reserve.

“First we have to secure our signings, then announce them.”

Fellaini struggled with injuries this season, limiting him to just seven starts across all competitions.

Despite only making 16 appearances in the Premier League, Fellaini still weighed in with four goals and won the WhoScored Man of the Match on two occasions.
