Tottenham star wants to leave this summer

Tottenham right-back Kyle Walker wants to leave the club at the end of the season after being dropped for the North London Derby against Arsenal this weekend, reports The Independent.

Walker, who was also benched in their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea last month, is now set to leave Tottenham after a row with manager Mauricio Pochettino about his fitness and training.

The England international only signed a new long-term deal at the start of the season but has attracted interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Manchester United after another superb campaign.

Walker has established himself as one of the best right-backs in the Premier League under Pochettino but now appears the likeliest member of the first-team squad to move on at the end of the season, although the club are in no rush to usher the defender out the door.

Walker’s feud with Pochettino is not something that has come out of the blue. Pochettino has held long-term doubts over Walker’s fitness and application in training, highlighting the fact he does not believe Walker is capable of performing in two big games a week, something that the 26-year-old rejects.

Nevertheless, Walker’s sale would fetch the club in excess of £35m and that money could be used to reinforce the squad and help Tottenham launch another title challenge next season. He is currently in the WhoScored Premier League Team of the Season (7.25).
