Agent confirms Premier League interest in Atletico Madrid star

The agent of Jan Oblak has revealed two sides have expressed an interest in signing the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper this summer, including a team from the Premier League.

Oblak is widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers in Europe after establishing himself as an integral player for Atletico since joining the La Liga giants from Benfica in 2014.

With David De Gea strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer, Oblak has reportedly been earmarked as Jose Mourinho’s first choice option to replace the Spaniard and his agent, Miha Mlakar, has confirmed there is a side from the Premier League chasing his signature.

“There are two teams especially interested in the player,” he told Goal, via AS. “It is too soon because there are still games to be played at international level, but definitely, as I have always said, there is plenty of interest in the best goalkeeper in the world. Especially two clubs with real interest in Oblak for next season.

He added that one of the teams “is from the United Kingdom”, but quashed suggestions Oblak could move to Serie A. “In Italy, Juventus are the only top club and they have Buffon, who is in a Champions League final, and if you ask me, he can still play without issue for more years.”

In the last three La Liga campaigns, Oblak has kept at least eight more clean sheets than any other goalkeeper (46).
