Manchester City identify Sane replacement

Manchester City have identified Bayer Leverkusen's Leon Bailey as a possible replacement for Leroy Sane, reports The Daily Mail.

Sane is set to leave City this summer with a return to Germany expected for the 24-year-old, who has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich for the best part of 12 months.

Indeed, Bayern had hoped to sign Sane last summer, but the Germany international sustained a knee injury in City's penalty shootout Community Shield win over Liverpool in August and he is yet to make a league appearance this season.

However, that hasn't deterred Bayern as they look to bring Sane back to the Bundesliga and City have already identified a potential successor for the wing-wizard.

Bailey was courted by a number of Premier League sides last summer, but a move away from Bayer Leverkusen failed to materialise.

Bayer Leverkusen were reluctant to lose Bailey given his importance to the side, however the 22-year-old has lost his place in the XI at the expense of Moussa Diaby and the Champions League hopefuls' stance on the youngster may have softened as a result.

Bailey has scored five goals and provided one assist in the Bundesliga this season, but has made just seven league starts.
