West Ham won't be pressured into handing Bilic a new deal
West Ham will not be pressured into offering Slaven Bilic a new deal in the summer despite interest from Fenerbahce, reports the London Evening Standard.
Bilic has just over 12 months remaining on his current deal with West Ham and plans to reward the Croatian with a new long-term deal were shelved midway through the season after their underwhelming campaign.
The Hammers had been flirting with relegation with most of the season but are now eight points clear of the bottom three after recording a 1-0 win over rivals Tottenham on Friday night.
West Ham will not rush into offering Bilic a new deal and their position hasn’t changed even after Friday’s result that ended Tottenham’s chances of catching Chelsea in the Premier league title race.
The east London outfit are also not concerned by reported interest in Bilic from Turkish giants Fenerbahce. Bilic spent two years as Besiktas manager before coming to manage West Ham in 2015.
Bilic guided the Hammers to a seventh place finish in his first campaign at the club but things have been far from straightforward in his second season, especially since moving from the Boleyn Ground to the London stadium.
Even if West Ham can win their last two matches, they would still be 14 points adrift of the 62 points they managed in his first season and they can no longer finish seventh.
