Sergio Ramos considering Real Madrid future

Sergio Ramos is considering his future at Real Madrid after a draining season, claims Spanish television show El Chiringuito, via AS.

Madrid have endured one of the worst ever seasons after failing to defend the Champions League and finishing 19 points behind Barcelona in the league.

Ramos has struggled for form and fitness this season and his relationship with Madrid president Florentino Perez is reportedly beyond the point of repair.

Perez and Ramos are understood to have had a huge argument after Madrid’s shock Champions League elimination to Ajax.

The Madrid president reportedly blasted the team for their performance, to which Ramos, who missed the game through suspension, jumped in to support his team-mates.

Their relationship has not improved since then and now Ramos is contemplating his future at the club, though he still has two years to run on his current deal.

Ramos, who has a release clause of €800m (£706.5m), has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United.

The Red Devils pursed the 33-year-old in the summer of 2015 but it turned out Ramos was simply using their interest to engineer a new deal at Madrid.

It is reported that both United and Liverpool are interested in Ramos, though that would come as a huge surprise.

Liverpool fans believe Ramos intentionally tried to hurt Mohamed Salah in last season’s Champions League final, in which the Egyptian dislocated his shoulder.

United are on the market for a world class centre-back but Ramos has just turned 33 and is unlikely to fit the profile Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is after.

Ramos scored six league goals this season, of which five were penalties. In fact, only Charles (six) scored more spot-kicks than Ramos in La Liga this season.
