Chelsea striker set for free transfer to Inter

Antonio Conte is closing in on the signing of yet another Premier League star with Chelsea's Olivier Giroud set for a free transfer to Inter, reports Tuttosport via The Mail.

Inter pressed to sign the France international in January, but the move fell through as Chelsea were unable to sign a replacement for the striker despite links with moves for PSG's Edinson Cavani and Napoli forward Dries Mertens.

Giroud since became a key member of Frank Lampard's Chelsea side, netting in wins over Tottenham and Everton.

However, the former Arsenal man is out of contract in the summer and is unlikely to put pen to paper on a new deal at Stamford Bridge as he looks to secure further playing time in order to boost his France chances ahead of the rearranged European Championship next year.

And Inter again lead the way for the 33-year-old, who is believed to have already agreed a deal with the Italian side that will see him move to Milan this summer.

Italian rivals Lazio were also linked with a move for Giroud in January, but Inter are expected to win the race for the French forward when the summer transfer window opens later this year.
