Ronald Koeman wants to reunite with Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk at Everton, reports The Daily Mirror.
The 53-year-old brought Van Dijk to Southampton from Celtic in 2015 and his fellow Dutchman has established himself as one of the best defenders in the Premier League.
Everton are keen to strengthen their defence after losing John Stones to Manchester City in the summer in a deal worth nearly £50m and are hardly like to baulk at Southampton’s reported £40m price tag as a result.
The Toffees won’t get a free pass at signing the Dutchman should he become available, however, with a number of Premier League giants already being linked with a move for the Southampton ace.
Since the start of last season only Troy Deeney (308) and Christian Benteke (238) have won more aerial duels in the Premier League than Van Dijk (220).
