Bayern Munich have announced Kingsley Coman has suffered knee ligament and ankle damage and will be sidelined for two months.
Coman, 20, has struggled to establish himself in Carlo Ancelotti’s plans this season after making a dazzling impression under Pep Guardiola last season in his first campaign at the Bundesliga giants.
His limited success this season has even led to suggestions Bayern may send the France international back to Juventus at the end of the season when his loan deal expires, and this injury will not have helped his case.
Coman was forced to withdraw from the France squad earlier this week and scan results have highlighted an external ligament tear in the knee joint and a capsule fracture in his left ankle, although there is a boost with Javi Martinez set to return to full training on Monday.
Of players to have started at least 10 matches in the last two Bundesliga campaigns only Ibrahima Traore (1 every 20.5 mins) has completed a dribble more frequently than Coman (1 every 21.3 mins).
