Tottenham receive injury boost

Tottenham defender Danny Rose is hopeful of playing again this month after discovering his knee injury is not as bad as first feared, reports The Independent.

Rose, who is recently back from a long-term knee injury, has missed Tottenham’s last three matches and there were fears he faced another spell on the sidelines.

The 27-year-old has struggled to rediscover his best form since returning from a 12-month absence in December and talk of a January switch to Manchester United has also cooled in recent weeks.

Incidentally, Rose is now targeting a return to first-team football when Tottenham play United on January 31, which marks the start of a tough run of games for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

After hosting United, Tottenham play Liverpool, Arsenal and Juventus in the space of 14 days.

While Rose is no longer an automatic first choice under Pochettino, the Tottenham manager will need the England international back during that busy period to share duties at left-back with Ben Davies.

Since the start of last season, Tottenham have a far superior win ratio in the Premier League without Rose in the starting XI (67.6%) compared to when he has featured from the off (56.5%).
