Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard is on the verge of agreeing a deal to join MLS franchise Colorado Rapids at the end of the current Premier League season, according to NBC Sports.
Howard, 36, has spent the last 13 years in the Premier League after leaving the States to join Manchester United in 2003.
The United States international has spent the last 10 of those at Everton, but his performances have come in for criticism this season and there had been suggestions the veteran goalkeeper could move back across the Atlantic.
Everton manager Roberto Martinez claimed there had been no approach from the Rapids after their 2-1 defeat to Swansea on Sunday, but the deal now seems to have progressed with one source telling NBC Sports that the deal looks ‘highly likely’ to happen.
Since the start of August 2013, Howard has given away at least three more penalties than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League (5).
