Arsenal to rival West Ham for Spanish creator

London pair Arsenal and West Ham are to battle it out for Villarreal creator Pablo Fornals, according to Sport via talkSPORT.

The 22-year-old has a number of admirers having scored one and assisted two for a disappointing Villarreal side that is currently mired in the relegation zone.

Fornals is believed to have a £28.5m release clause in his contract, which could prove to be a bargain in the modern market.

Villarreal will be reluctant to lose the young Spain international, but would have no choice but to sell Fornals if either Arsenal or West Ham trigger that clause.

Fornals has made more key passes (35) than any other player aged 23 and under in La Liga this season and that will only increase interest in the attacker.

Arsenal are considering selling Mesut Ozil this month, despite the German penning a new deal at the Emirates 12 months ago, while West Ham could benefit from a player of his calibre in east London.

Speaking of Fornals earlier this month, Villarreal boss said: “I live a normal life with Fornals.

“He’s training perfectly, as if nothing’s going on. Until something reaches me, I have no idea and the club have already said that there’s nothing at the moment.

“We’re working with complete normality and I see Pablo focused and involved.”
