Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has warned Daniel Sturridge he will not be allowed to leave the club in January.
Sturridge is reportedly keen to leave the Merseyside outfit in the New Year in order to salvage his chances of making the 2018 World Cup.
The 28-year-old has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular under Klopp but the Liverpool boss has warned any player looking to leave in January will be left disappointed.
“The situation with the player is completely OK,” The Daily Mirror quote Klopp as saying in his pre-match news conference on Monday.
“I can imagine actually that a player with these qualities is not happy he is not starting all the time. I really can imagine that. But that’s all.
“At the moment we need all our players. So we have November, and even if he feels a little different, there is a month and a half to go until any window opens and until then I don’t think a second about things like this.
“We have so many games to go until then and we need all of them, and that’s what we show them. “
Sturridge has only started 11 Premier League matches since the start of last season and was omitted from Gareth Southgate’s England squad for friendlies against Germany and Brazil earlier this month.
In fact, in the last four seasons Sturridge has only managed to feature in 25.3% of Liverpool’s Premier League action.
