'Götze staying’ – Guardiola

Bayern Munich head coach Pep Guardiola has rubbished claims World Cup winner Mario Götze is on the verge of leaving the club.

Götze, 23, has been extensively linked with a move to Juventus this summer and the former Borussia Dortmund midfielder even admitted he would consider leaving the Allianz Arena, calling Juventus a "big, big club".

The Germany international has struggled to nail down a starting berth since arriving in 2013 and was even considered one of the biggest disappointments last season in the Bundesliga by his fellow professionals. However, Guardiola insists he is not looking to sell him on.

"Mario's got a contract here, he's my player and he's a great player too," Guardiola said.

"In my mind, he is going to be a Bayern Munich player all season.

"He’s a top player, but I know that it’s not only the coach who decides here. It depends on the club."

Despite being considered a disappointment last season, no Bayern player made more appearances in the Bundesliga last season (32) and only Arjen Robben and Franck Ribéry (both 6.7) attempted more dribbles per game than Götze (5).
