Liverpool agree personal terms with Bayern midfielder Thiago

Liverpool have reached personal terms with Thiago and just need to agree a fee with Bayern Munich, claims German outlet BILD.

Thiago has entered the final 12 months of his current Bayern deal and is desperate to secure a Premier League move this summer.

Bayern are looking to cash in on the Spain international rather than lose him for free next year and Liverpool are currently the only side in the running for his signature.

There have been conflicting reports whether Liverpool's pursuit is genuine given Thiago's arrival at the age of 29 would go against club policy.

However, Jurgen Klopp has given the greenlight to Thiago's arrival and Liverpool are ready to make an exception.

Liverpool now need to agree a fee with Bayern but are reportedly refusing to pay anymore than £23m.

Bayern are currently holding out for £35m but are desperate to offload Thiago as quickly as possible so they can accelerate their planning for next season.

Thiago has spent the last seven years of his career at Bayern after a surprise transfer from Barcelona.

Despite various injury problems in that time, Thiago has developed into one of the finest technical midfielders in Europe.

Liverpool are ready to go through this summer's transfer window without any significant incomings and have already turned down Timo Werner.

Klopp has already conceded it is tough to ask current players to accept a pay cut and then go out and sign someone new for big money.

Thiago finished the 2019/20 Bundesliga campaign as Bayern's fourth best WhoScored rated player (7.47 rating)

The Spaniard surprisingly went all season without an assist in the league but did have the best dribble success rate (25+ attempted) in the division (85.5%).
