AC Milan make audacious play for Juventus star

AC Milan’s transfer activity is on the brink of elevating to another level after submitting a shock offer for Juventus star Leonardo Bonucci, reports Sport Mediaset, via Football Italia.

Vincenzo Montella’s side have spent more than £100m on eight new signings this summer but Milan, who are backed by new Chinese investors, have no intention of reigning in their spending spree.

Milan have already signed Mateo Musacchio from Villarreal to bolster their options at the heart of their defence but have reportedly now made a stunning play for Juventus star Bonucci.

The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the last 12 months, but neither Chelsea nor Manchester City have been successful despite reports hinting at problems between Bonucci and head coach Max Allegri.

Bonucci only signed a new long-term deal with the Serie A champions in December but Milan have reportedly already agreed personal terms with the 29-year-old, who will earn in excess of £120,000-a-week at San Siro.

Milan have even included Mattia De Sciglio and Alessia Romagnoli in their package to convince Juventus to part ways with their star defender.

Allegri's side have been heavily linked with a move for De Sciglio this summer, while Romagnoli’s arrival would mean Juventus have the three best young Italian centre-backs at the club in the shape of Daniele Rugani and Mattia Caldara.

In the last three Serie A campaigns Bonucci has completed the most accurate long balls of all outfielders (618).
