Marseille are interested in handing Olivier Giroud an escape route from Arsenal at the end of the season, reports The Sun.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has opted to field Alexis Sanchez through the middle this season that has seen Giroud drop down the pecking order dramatically and the forward has been linked with a move away as a result.
The 30-year-old only hinted he was close to signing a new deal with Arsenal at the start of the year but a lack of playing time may force him to reconsider his options in the summer.
Marseille already shelled out nearly £30m to re-sign Dimitri Payet from West Ham last month and are now reportedly ready to hand Giroud a return to France, where he left to join Arsenal in 2012.
Giroud has only started six league games this season and wasn’t even named in the squad that faced non-league side Sutton in the FA Cup on Monday.
Despite struggling for game time, Giroud has an outstanding goal return this season. In fact, of players that have scored at least five goals in the Premier League this season, Giroud has required the fewest minutes per goal (1 every 82 minutes).
