Guardiola favours London move

Pep Guardiola is keen to manage a London-based Premier League team if he fails to agree a new deal to keep him at Bayern Munich, according to the Daily Mail.

The Spaniard's contract with the German champions expires at the end of the season and talks have yet to begin over a new deal.

Guardiola has supposedly told friends that he is keen on trying his lucky in England's top tier, with Manchester City hoping for him to take charge at the Etihad Stadium next term.

However, reports suggest that the 44-year-old would rather take over a team in the capital rather than move to Manchester, with Arsenal and Chelsea potential suitors should the manager indeed leave Bayern in the summer.

Jose Mourinho's future has been called into question in recent weeks following Chelsea's underwhelming start to the season.

The Portuguese boss has been strongly linked with a Stamford Bridge exit despite only recently putting pen-to-paper on a four-year extension in west London after a disappointing run of results.

Arsene Wenger's contract, meanwhile, does not expire for another 18 months, though it remains to be seen whether Arsenal would be willing to relieve the Frenchman of his duties in order to pursue Guardiola.

City remain favourites to bring Guardiola to England, however, with club chiefs keen for the former Barcelona head coach to succeed Manuel Pellegrini at the Citizens helm.

Bayern have previously stated they are not worried about a lack of movement form both parties with regards to a new contract at the Allianz Arena, with talks over a possible extension not expected to take place until the Bundesliga's Winter Break, at the earliest.
