Arsene Wenger rubbishes talk of AC Milan job

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has labelled claims he will replace Gennaro Gattuso as AC Milan head coach as ‘fake news’.

Reports from France emerged over the weekend suggesting Wenger would return to management with Serie A giants Milan.

Current Milan boss Gattuso is under huge pressure after the club’s mixed start to the season but the Italian can now breathe a sigh of relief.

Wenger, who has been out of work since stepping down as Arsenal manager at the end of last season, is ready to return to management but insists there is no truth in reports Milan will be his next challenge.

“The only thing I can say it’s fake news,” Wenger told beIN Sports, via The Daily Mirror on Tuesday night.

“If I signed somewhere I would tell you. It’s wrong information. I can not master the rumours, I am just focused on doing well for beIN Sports and that’s not easy.”

Ivan Gazidis left his position as Arsenal chief executive for life at Milan at the end of September but it was the 54-year-old who ultimately forced Wenger out at the Emirates.

Milan are currently fourth in Serie A but Gattuso’s job will be under microscopic attention until he finally leaves.
