David de Gea will demand £375,000-a-week in order in renew his Manchester United contract, claims The Sun.
The Spain international’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season and United want his future resolved as quickly as possible despite the fact they have an option to extend his existing contract by a further 12 months.
Real Madrid are expected to sign a goalkeeper in the summer and De Gea and Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois are the frontrunners.
De Gea has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world in the last few years and can expect a significant pay rise on his reported £210,000-a-week contract.
United made Alexis Sanchez one of the best-paid players in the world when they signed the 29-year-old from rivals Arsenal last month and De Gea is now looking to become one of the club’s biggest earners as a result.
De Gea has kept 15 clean sheets in the Premier League this season, more than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues.
