Former Barcelona boss in frame to succeed Ancelotti at Bayern Munich

Former Barcelona head coach Luis Enrique is set for talks with Bayern Munich on Wednesday with regard to succeeding Carlo Ancelotti at the Allianz Arena, reports German TV station Sport1, via The Sun.

Bayern sacked Ancelotti at the end of last week following the club’s humiliating 3-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and have placed assistant coach Willy Sagnol in interim charge.

The reigning Bundesliga champions are hoping to announce a new full-time manager during the international break and will sit down for talks with Enrique, who has been out of work since the end of last season.

Ancelotti’s predecessor, Pep Guardiola, was pictured in Munich on Tuesday with Bayern president Uli Hoeness and has reportedly given his blessing to the man the Bavarian giants want to appoint.

During three years as Barcelona head coach, Enrique led the club to back-to-back La Liga titles and Champions League glory in 2015, while also winning the Copa del Rey in each of his three campaigns at the club.
