Liverpool have spoken with Aston Villa over a possible move for Jack Grealish, but Tottenham remain favourites to land the young attacker, reports the Sunday Mirror.
The 22-year-old is widely expected to leave Villa Park this summer, with Villa needing to raise funds to avoid any potential FFP penalties.
Grealish is the clubs’ prized asset and they were hoping to raise upwards of £40m to help write off any debts, but with Steve Bruce supposedly told he’s unable to even make any loan signings until a significant sale of one of their stars, that fee has fallen considerable.
Indeed, Grealish’s value has dropped to £20m, with a number of Premier League teams showing an interest in the player.
Spurs lead the way for Grealish, but Liverpool are thought to have entered the race to sign the youngster.
Having missed out on Nabil Fekir, Jurgen Klopp is exploring possible alternatives to bolster his attack.
Spurs have so far offered £15m for Grealish, which is below what Villa are looking to sell him for, and they are hoping Liverpool’s interest will drive that price up.
Nevertheless, the north London side remain in pole position for Grealish, with Maurico Pochettino keen on adding another midfielder to his squad.
