Stoke defender confirms talks for permanent stay

Stoke defender Bruno Martins Indi has confirmed talks are underway to see his loan deal from Porto made permanent.

Mark Hughes’ side signed Martins Indi on an initial season-long loan deal at the start of the season and the Netherlands international has been an ever-present in the team all season.

While question marks still remain over Stoke’s defence, Indi has still been an upgrade on what was there before him and Hughes’ side would be wise to tie him down long-term.

“We are talking to each other, the club and me. I have the intention to stay. We want to see what is going to happen,” Martins Indi told Sky Sports. “I was following Stoke City before I was here and I knew the way the manager wants to play.

“He gave me a lot of confidence to come here and he trusted me, I am happy that I could give him that back.”

Indi has started in 25 of Stoke’s 28 league games this season and only Ryan Shawcross (160) has completed more clearances than the Dutchman (152).
